Driver App

UI/UX Designer II

2021-2022

Project Summary

The Modivcare Driver app is the transportation side of the Modivcare experience. This app ensures that members of Modivcare have accessibility to future healthcare appointments by providing an easy and progressive program for transportation providers. Modivcare Drive gives transportation providers access to a ride marketplace where they can schedule rides, as well as navigate themselves to members while having the ability to be informed of their own payment schedule and ride schedule.

Research

Product Review

IIt was immediately clear that the initial design was outdated, particularly regarding user flow (or lackthereof). Following these observations, I brainstormed potenital avenues of research and solutions. Adhering to the tenets of best practice, I honed my research toward improvements for driver management, instant pay methods, navigation visuals, among other persisting kinks and bugs. I also took careful note of competing products like Uber, Lyft, and other similar platforms; below is a sample of web resources I used.

Survey

In order to gain a better understanding of the preliminary issues with the app, our team produced and distributed a survey to gather direct feedback from our users. These were the results.

Wireframes

In the course of my design process, I developed wireframes to the end of producing the highest quality user flow, which in turn helped me with testing and reimagining prior to creating high-fidelity mock-ups. This ensured that I could keep in mind all of the user's needs and still provide a thorough and thought-out experience.

UI Iterations

Summary

Being the case that the Driver app was in-market at the time I began to work on it, my team and I needed to proceed carefully and creatively to effectuate a successful evolution. Below you can follow the changes we brought into play.

Original Design

Here are the screens I received initially, which served as the foundation for my surveys and user testing.

Initial Update

Due to the scope of the design process, it was imperative for our company to make quick additions and alterations for the users in accordance with ADA requirements and basic user needs. These additions helped us learn more about our users and how to redefine the process we were originally given.

Full Redesign & Rebrand

Due to the scope of the design process, it was imperative for our company to make quick additions and alterations for the users in accordance with ADA requirements and basic user needs. These additions helped us learn more about our users and how to redefine the process we were originally given.

Prototype & User Flow

The Modivcare Driver app was initially designed by a UI/UX team prior to my onboarding at Modivcare. The original iteration of the Driver app was perceived by the company and its users as not user-friendly and inaccessible. To improve on these complaints a team of developers and myself as the UX designer used a hackathon within the company to design and develop a new vision for the driver app. My part was to include past user research, develop wireframes, user mapping, and final branded designs.

Final Note

Myself, our Agile team, and various developers contributed to this project. Although I was not able to see my final designs implemented, our team worked quite hard to take a disparaging user experience and give it new life.
